Car Rentals: Planning a Weekend Getaway

When I moved to the big city, buying a car seemed like a waste of money. The subway takes me anywhere I want to go, and there are always cabs as a backup. When I do want to get out of the city for a weekend, I arrange for a car rental. Rentals are great for me. I get to choose the type of vehicle that I want, buy insurance to cover the trip, and concentrate on enjoying myself. If the car develops engine trouble, I call the agency and they pick me up in a replacement. Thanks to my club discounts, I even get price breaks on some of my rentals. If you are new to the idea of renting a car, let me help. I'll show you how to get the best terms, including the lowest price. That'll make for a more pleasant trip.

3 Ways To Make Your Vacation Return Trip Go More Smoothly

Blog

If you are taking a family vacation, it is important that you make sure that your return trip goes as smoothly as possible. You don't want a great vacation ruined by a bad return trip. It can decrease the enjoyment that you experienced from your vacation overall. Here are three ways that you can make sure that your family's return trip goes a little smoother this time.

#1 Pack The Night Ahead

The night before you are going to leave, help everyone in your family pack up all of their belongings. Make sure that everything gets into the suitcase, from the shoes that they were wearing to all of the souvenirs that were bought on the trip and all of the chargers for your various devices.

Only keep out the toiletries and the outfit that each family member should wear to the airport the next day. Next to each bag, create a checklist of what still needs to be packed in the morning, even if the checklist is as simple as toothbrush, toothpaste, and pajamas. Make sure it lists every item that still have to go into the bags in the morning. This will help ensure that nothing is lost.

#2 Arrange For Breakfast

If the place you are staying provides room service, see if you can put in your order for breakfast the night before and have it delivered at a specific time. That way, you will not have to stress about getting your family down to the dining room before it closes, and you will not have to worry about hungry kids down the line complaining that they are hungry as you are going through the security line. Arranging for breakfast to be delivered to your room the night before will make things a little easier in the morning.

#3 Arrange For Transportation

Finally, make sure that you arrange for transportation in advance. Call up a cab company like Union Taxi and arrange for a ride in advance if possible. If you can't arrange for a ride in advance, let them know what time you need a ride and find out how far in advance you need to call to get picked up. Then set an alarm on your phone to call the cab company at a specific time. Also, in order to get your entire family to the airport in one trip, be sure to request a van or SUV, and let the cab company know that you have lots of luggage that you'll be bringing along as well.
